As a child growing up in the Philippines I wanted to be an artist.I drew characters in pencil to impress my school mates and believed that I have a God given talent.
In 1978 our family emigrated to USA for opportunities.Staying in California for only few months I joined the US Air Force.I was doing artwork here and there doing portraits and other commissions. When I left the military I started working for the US Postal Service. This is when I did my first mural. It was done the break room.A 11 x 20 feet size. An editor for SF Gate did an editorial for my mural when the post office was demolished in 2018.In 1995 I moved to Boston and there I met my wife Susan.Because of other interest like joining a band and singing in clubs I did not pursue artwork until me and my wife moved to Elk Grove Ca. in 2005.I presented my artwork to a curator in a gallery and was accepted. Now that I am retired I can put my time and energy to continue my love for art.I can always say it better late than never. And hoping that my daughters Stefanie,Janelle and Jamie will be proud of their father as an artist.
Oil is my favorite but I switch every now and then using acrylic. At a young age I started with pencil and charcoal. And I have experimented with watercolor too.Now that I am retired I will venture every medium there is and will experiment on sculpture too! At the same time I make my own frame for my paintings.
My daughters, family inspire me to continue what I should have done years ago.And thinking what I could have been if this God given talent is not being wasted but shown to everyone.I can only hope that every art I create would give everyone happiness.
